Thesis title: Le revisioni linguistiche nei manoscritti della Commedia del Cento
This study aims to investigate, through an examination of linguistic corrections in the manuscripts of the Commedia del Cento, the corrective practices of scribes engaged in copying and revising a text that was, for them, both chronologically and geographically—and thus linguistically—close. The survey of the corrective interventions found in the manuscripts of the selected corpus has revealed, alongside textual variants, a series of formal variants that constitute the focus of this analysis. These data make it possible to identify elements of linguistic microvariation that emerge within different individual linguistic systems as they come into contact with the model’s system. After situating the phenomenon within the broader context of medieval copying practices, the study analyzes the distribution, frequency, and typology of the corrective interventions identified in the corpus manuscripts.
