Francesca Fariello, born in Trani in 1999, graduated from the Liceo Scientifico V. Vecchi in Trani in 2018 and subsequently enrolled in the Single-Cycle Degree Course in Architecture at the Politecnico di Bari. She graduated in February 2024 with a research thesis entitled "Mediterranean Modernity in Bari", under the supervision of Prof. Matteo Ieva. The thesis analyzes the characteristics of modern architecture of the barracks on Bari's two waterfronts and proposes a redevelopment project for the terminal area of the eastern waterfront. During her university studies, she completed an internship at the architectural studio of Francesca Onesti in Trani, focusing on design, surveys, and restoration. After graduation, she worked as a tutor at the 2nd Laboratory of Architectural Design in the ArCoD Department of the Politecnico di Bari, led by Prof. Matteo Ieva. She participated in several editions of the International Seminar and Architecture and Urban Culture Award at the University of Camerino, standing out in 2020 with the award for the best project titled "Nuove forme dell'abitare – Edificazione di un'area periferica di Trani", published in the magazine Città Futura (Di Baio Editore). In September 2023, she served as a tutor at the design school in the archaeological area "L'Antico Futuro a Canosa di Puglia", where she focused on the estimation aspects of the project and delved into urban regeneration topics, publishing the article "L'aggere abitato del battistero sabiniano" in the journal U+D Urbanform and Design (September 2023). She has participated in various workshops and competitions, including the Stone Landscape Festival, Margini organized by Biarch.org, and the YLab Prix Italia Rai competition with the project "Sustainable and Open to the City Campus: Redevelopment of the Quagliarello Campus in Bari". In March 2024, she gave an invited lecture entitled "Mediterranean Modernity in Bari" at the 2nd Architectural Design Laboratory at the Politecnico di Bari. During the same period, she curated academic exhibitions and took part in the National Study Conference "Bitonto and Puglia in the First Half of the Twentieth Century", organized at the Bitonto History and Art Research Center, presenting a paper on the monumental seafronts of Bari. She actively participates in conferences on methods of economic estimation and metric computation for architectural design. In August 2024, she won a post-graduate scholarship as part of the "CTE CALLIOPE: House of Innovation for One Health" project, focusing on estimation topics and supervised by Prof. Pierluigi Morano. Currently, she works as a tutor in Prof. Pierluigi Morano's course "Evaluation Techniques for Project Implementation and Management" at the DICATECH Department of the Politecnico di Bari. She is also a PhD student at Sapienza University of Rome, attending the Doctorate in Architecture and Construction of the City, with a curriculum in Estimation and Evaluation.
