Flavio Bauer (January 14, 1988) is a PhD candidate in Linguistics (39th cycle, 2023–present). In 2022, he graduated in Linguistics from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, with the thesis "Il sistema del non-passato in inglese: prospettive a confronto", supervised by Prof. Flavia Pompeo. Previously, in 2020, he obtained a Master's degree in Philosophical Sciences from the University of "Roma Tre", with the thesis "La grammatica del “bene comune” nel medioevo: testualità e dimensione etico-politica nella storiografia di Giacomo Todeschini", supervised by Prof. Raimondo Michetti.

His research focuses on tense-mood-aspect issues, from both synchronic and diachronic perspectives, with an emphasis on the history of English, and a particular interest in the interface between semantics and pragmatics. He also works on the issue of linguistic simplification of institutional texts in Italian.
