Presentazione: I graduated from Campus Biomedico di Roma with a bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition and Food Science. I have then successfully completed my Master’s Degree in Food Technology at the Sapienza University of Rome. I am very passionate about nutrition and I am interested in the diverse aspects of food safety and security. My primary motive is to address the issues related to food losses and waste, climate change, plastic pollution and sustainability. My job objective is to obtain a position as Food Technologist Post-grad research fellowship: chemical and biological analysis of essential oils and hydrosols extracted/obtained from aromatic plants of agri- food importance to safeguard agricultural crops. SABRINA BERTIN For the first part of this project i worked in Rieti area, at the Carlo Jucci Appennine Center, where 4 different types of aromatic plants, oregano, thyme, fennel and mint have been collected an distilled. The most type of this technique is steam distillation and hydrodistillation. In laboratory of department of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies at La Sapienza University, the separation of two immiscible phases was carried out. Third part and last part of this project was carried out at CREA - DC Rome and it was about utilyising these hydrosols and essential oil, with the aim to find ways or alternative ways that would prevent phitophagus insect as the Afide gossipy and pathogenic fungi from feeding on cucurbi plants.
