Emilio Russo (Reggio Calabria, 1970) studied at the University of Rome "La Sapienza"; in 2000 he was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Chicago (Chicago, Illinois, USA) and, after a post-doctorate in Italianistics at the University of Padua (2001-2003) and a research fellowship at the Institute of Historical Studies in Naples (2004), he taught at the Universities of Basel and Freiburg (2005-2008). He has been teaching at Sapienza University of Rome since May 2011, with full professor status from September 2021.
His research has focused on the main authors of the Renaissance, Baroque and nineteenth-century Italian literature.
