Elisa Bizzotto graduated in Foreign Languages and Literatures from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in 1995 and obtained a PhD in English Studies from the University of Florence in 2001. From 2002 to 2004, she held a research fellowship at Ca' Foscari University. From 2003 to 2010, she taught at the Universities of Trento and Ca' Foscari as an adjunct professor. From 2009 to 2016, she was a tenured lecturer in English Literature at Iuav University of Venice, where she is now an associate professor and the Rector’s Advisor for the University Library. In 2018 she obtained national qualification as a full professor in English and Anglo-American Languages, Literatures and Cultures. She works on Victorian and pre-Modernist literature and her interests are in genre, gender, mythography and intermediality. She specialises in aestheticism, decadence, and Anglo-Italian cultural intersections. As part of the research project “The Reception of British and Irish Authors in Europe”, she contributed to volumes on Walter Pater and Oscar Wilde. She has been part of the DRC-CUSVE research group (Goldsmiths College and University of Chieti-Pescara) since 2021. She has been invited to conferences and lectures at various foreign universities (University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, UCLA Los Angeles, University College London, Rutgers University, Paris-Sorbonne, etc.), and has been part of the scientific committee of conferences in Italy and abroad. In 2017, she was a recipient of the FFABR grant awarded by the Italian Ministry of University; in 2020, she obtained funding for the Collaborative Project Workshop from ESSE (European Society for the Study of English). She is a member of ESSE, AIA (Italian Association of English Studies), BAVS (British Association of Victorian Studies), and BADS (British Association of Decadence Studies). She is a co-founder of the Italian Oscar Wilde Society and is the vice-president of the International Walter Pater Society (University of Oxford-UCLA Los Angeles). She is part of the board of CUSVE (Research Centre for Victorian and Edwardian Studies, University 'G. D'Annunzio' of Chieti-Pescara) and of ClassicA Research Centre (Iuav). She participates in the editorial boards of the journals Studies in Walter Pater and Aestheticism (UCLA Los Angeles), Volupté (Goldsmiths College London), English Literature (Ca’ Foscari University), La rivista di Engramma (Iuav), and Journal of Comparative Studies (Dauvgapils University). She is a co-editor of In-Carnations, a book series on fin-de-siècle English studies (ETS publisher, Pisa).
