Thesis title: ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CONSUMPTION IN INTERNET OF THINGS: EMPIRICAL MODELS AND ANALYSIS

In the last years, the Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a key application in the design and evolution of technologies in the transition toward a 5G ecosystem. More and more IoT technologies are part of the global market and represent important enablers in the deployment of networks of interconnected devices.. As this networks continue to grow and expand, energy efficiency and consumption are becoming an important aspect in analyzing the performance and suitability of different technologies. This thesis focusses on an indeep examination on Low-Power Short-Area Networks (LPSANs) and Low-Power Wide-Area Networks (LPWANs), from an energy efficiency and power consumption standpoint. The focus is in creating a system for metric classification, which will help in determining energy models, with the main focus being the creation of a classification of current methods for energy efficiency and the analysis of the Power Saving Method in a NB-IoT context, for two scenarios.
