Research: Shape and metamorphosis of the ecclesiastical space in Cencelle (Tarquinia, VT): from the romanesque pole of Saint Peter to cardinal Farnese's rural estate (XI-XVI Century)
I am a PhD student in Archaeology (curriculum in Post-Classic Archaeology and Antiquities, XL cycle). The title of my research is "Shape and Metamorphosis of the Ecclesiastical Space in Cencelle (Tarquinia, VT): From the Romanesque Pole of Saint Peter to Cardinal Farnese's Rural Estate (XI-XVI Century)."
My scientific interests focus on the High Middle Ages (XI-XIV Century), particularly on architecture and landscape archaeology within the contexts of Northern Lazio and Norman-Hohenstaufen ruled Southern Italy. I am especially interested in reconstructing Medieval power dynamics, population distribution and warfare scenarios. I have explored these themes in depth primarily through ecclesiastical architectural contexts, fortified complexes, and settlement patterns.
In May 2024, I was awarded the title of "Excellent Graduate" for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (Sapienza University of Rome).
In November 2023, I enrolled in the Specialization School in Archaeological Heritage (postgraduate program, Sapienza University of Rome).
In January 2023, I completed my Master’s Degree in Archaeology (Sapienza University of Rome) with the thesis "The District of Frankish Jerusalem between the First and Second Kingdom: A Reconstruction of the Landscape Structure around the Holy City between the Ayyubid Conquest and Latin Reoccupation (XII-XIII Century)." I earned a final grade of 110/110 cum laude (supervisor: Prof. G.M. Annoscia; co-supervisor: Prof. A. Musarra) and I succesfully completed the "Excellence Track" of the aforementioned Master's Degree program.
In September 2020, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeological Sciences (Sapienza University of Rome) with the thesis "Coelum Remugit Clamoribus: A Historical-Topographic Reconstruction of the Battle of Tagliacozzo." I graduated with a final grade of 110/110 cum laude (supervisor: Prof. G.M. Annoscia).
