PERSONAL STATEMENT

I obtained a degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Padova on October 18, 2000, with a grade of 106/110. In 2001, I began my specialization in legal medicine and forensic toxicology, which I completed on December 22, 2004. During the 2004–2005 academic year, I completed a master’s degree in criminology and forensic psychiatry. Throughout my career, I have had opportunities to deepen my knowledge of the medico-legal, genetic, toxicological, and criminological aspects of substance use disorder. For example, from October 2009 to January 2010, I was a visiting fellow at the Ernest Gallo Clinic and Research Center at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) in the United States. My professional experiences, teaching work, and publications (Scopus h-index = 12, citations = 609) are consistent with my field of interest: substance use disorders.
