Claudio Gentile (1971) received his degree in "Computer Science" at University of Pisa and Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa in 1995.
In 2000 he received the PhD in "Operations Research" at Sapienza University of Rome.
Since 1999 he is researcher at Institute of System Analysis and Computer Science "A. Ruberti" of the Italian National Research Council (CNR-IASI) and since 2020 he is research director at the same institute.
He directed the research group of CNR-IASI in "Control and Optimization of Complex Systems" in the period 2006-2015 and the research group of CNR-IASI "OPTIMA: Optimization and Discrete Mathematics" in the period 2016-2021.
His main research interests are in the following areas: Combinatorial Optimization, Mixed-Integer Linear and Nonlinear Programming, Polyhedral Theory, Interior Point Methods, Production and Distribustion of Power Energy, Logistics, Network Design.
He participated to several projects funded by European Union and by the Italian, Spanish, and French governments and organizations. In particular,
he has been the research unit principal investigator for two Marie-Curie Sklodowska Actions - Excellent Science of European Union and for other national projects.
He has been reviewer for the main journals of Mathematical Programming, Optimization, and Discrete Mathematics and editor of a special issue of Discrete Mathematics and of a volume of the AIRO-Springer series.
He has been part of the Italian research evaluation committee for Mathematics and Computer Science 2015-2019 (VQR).
He is part of the Steering Committee of the PhD course ABRO in "Automation, Bioingeneering, and Operations Research" of Sapienza University of Rome.
He is author/coauthor of more than 50 scientific papers on journals, book chapters and conference proceedings.
