Cleofe Palocci is currently Associate Professor (2nd level Professor) of Industrial Biotransformations (SSD CHIM04) at the Chemistry Department of Sapienza in Rome. The research activity is focused on industrial biotechnologies whose objectives concern: the study and optimization of industrial bioconversion processes for obtaining biologically active molecules or for the "bioproduction" of biopolymeric materials using approaches and methodologies of innovative biotransformation, the development and application of new microfluidic methodologies for the control of both the size and the morphology of polymeric materials to be used for the controlled release of bioactive molecules (drug delivery), of nucleic acids (gene therapy), or for tissue engineering approaches. It has also been working for some time in the field of using unconventional media (supercritical fluids) for the extraction and purification of biotechnological products or for applications in catalytic processes of industrial interest. Since November 2021 she has been Director of the CIABC University Research Center (Research Center for Sciences Applied to the Protection of the Environment and Cultural Heritage) of the "Sapienza" University. She is currently a member of the PhD college in Chemical Processes for industry and the environment that belongs to the Chemical Engineering Materials Environment Department Sapienza University of Rome. She carries out and has carried out tutoring activities for several Italian and foreign doctoral students, for degree theses in Industrial Chemistry, Biotechnology and Chemistry and pharmaceutical technologies.
Bibliometric parameters: she is the author of 69 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and with impact fact, 6 book chapters, 4 patents and over 60 communications at international conferences with printed documents, overall H-index: 25 (Source: Scopus database ), Total citations: 1496 (Source: Scopus database March 2022 ).
