Research:
Claudio Sagliocco was born in Rome in 1995. After his classical high school diploma, he continued his studies at "La Sapienza" University of Rome.
In 2017, he obtained a three-year degree in Historical-Artistic Studies with a thesis in Modern Art History entitled "Francesco da Castello: un fiammingo in Italia" (supervisor: Professor Alessandro Zuccari).
In 2019 he graduated with honours from the Master of Arts in History of Art with a thesis in History of Modern Art entitled "Painting and Nature: Flemings and Italians in the Chapel of San Francesco al Gesù" (supervisor: Professor Alessandro Zuccari; co-rapporteur: Professor Massimo Moretti).
In the course of his training, he carried out an internship at the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica in Palazzo Corsini (a.y. 2018/2019).
In January 2020 he took part in the International Study Conference "L'immaginario della caccia e degli animali nella Libraria e nelle collezioni di Francesco Maria II della Rovere. Analisi, contesti, modelli, confronti." with a paper entitled "Animals in the chapel of San Francesco al Gesù: hagiography, theology and nature science."
He is currently enrolled in the XXXVI cycle of the Doctorate in Art History. His research focuses on the art of the Capuchin order, from the third decade of the 16th century to the first decades of the 17th century. His scientific interests focus on Flemish painting and in particular on Flemish painters working in Italy.
