Research fields:
Historical Linguistics, history of the linguistic though, Iranian, Semitic and Classical languages, contact linguistics, phonology, morphology, Indo-European studies
Scientific activity:
My research interests are directed primarily to historical linguistics, particularly Greek, Latin, Iranian and Syriac. I also faced methodological problems of the comparative analysis and the historical reconstruction applied to East Asian languages. I am currently studying some phenomena of word formation and suffixation in ancient Indo-European and Indo-Iranian in particular.
My most important past works concerned the knowledge of the Ancient Greeks in the field of the acoustics and music theory; contacts between the Greek world and the Eastern Iran, especially from the linguistic point of view and with particular attention to morphological interference; the Syriac lexicon of Iranian origin; the diffusion and use of Latin and Greek during the Hellenistic period and their relationship with the East Asian culture; comparative linguistics and the study of linguistic contacts in general; interference of the medieval and modern Iranian verbal morphology with Syriac; adjectival formations in the ancient Indo-European languages, particularly in Indo-Iranian.
