Research: Women and Science fiction in East Germany. A comparative analysis with soviet nauchnaya fantastika
Chiara Viceconti completed her bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Translation at Sapienza University of Rome. Her thesis focused on Georg Elser and the concept of the hero and anti-hero in the German resistance against National Socialism. During her undergraduate studies, she joined the Erasmus+ program at the University of Konstanz. In her master's degree studies in Linguistic, Literary and Translation Studies, she enrolled in the Double Degree initiative, jointly offered by Sapienza University and the University of Bielefeld and conducted a research period at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. She graduated with a master's thesis titled "Völkische und nationalsozialistische Ideologien in der deutschen Science Fiction des XX. Jh. zwischen Utopie und Dystopie" (Prof. G. Guerra and Prof. H. Dainat). After completing her master's degree, she earned a post-graduate degree in Politics and International Relations at LUMSA University of Rome, presenting a thesis on the relationship between feminism and socialism in 20th-century Germany. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in Slavic and Germanic Studies at Sapienza University. Her research interests, both in the Germanic and Slavic fields, encompass science fiction, the relationship between politics and literature, and gender studies. She also collaborates with the academic journal "Constellazioni" as co-editor of the reviews section.
