RESEARCH ACTIVITY
1997-2012 on the communicative competence and social ability in newborns at the Clinical
Psychology Lab and at the EEG Lab at Dynamic and Clinical Psychology Department -University of
Rome Sapienza. This is the major research interest focused on the influence of the social
environment and different types of communication on the newborn behaviours as crying, smiling,
visual preferences, sleep. The present projects include the EEG correlate using a Geodesic Net
System 300 integrated with Eye Tracking System (Smart Eye). The effort was been focused on the
identification of communication paradigm in order to clarify social ability in newborns.
2000-2001 on the social ability in 3 months infants at the “Centre for Brain & Cognitive
Development” of Birkbeck College- London under the supervision of Prof. Mark H. Johnson.
2002-2007 on the neural correlate of psychotherapy and psychopathological disorders at the
Psychiatry and Psychology Institute of Catholic University of Sacred Heart of Rome (Gemelli
Policlinic). The neural correlate (SPECT) of psychodynamic outcome was investigated on borderline
disorder patients.
2006-2012 on the biological, hormonal, and neural correlate of pain, consciousness, memory and
dream during anaesthesia at the Anaesthesiology Institute of Catholic University of Sacred Hearth
of Rome (Gemelli Policlinic).
2009-2012 on the psychological predictors of the transplantation outcome of kidney and liver at the
Surgery Institute of Catholic University of Sacred Hearth in Rome (Gemelli Policlinic).
