Alvise Mattozzi, sociologist, is Associate Professor of Social Studies of Science and Technology. He is the coordinator of the Techno-scientific practices and socio-cultural processes Research Area of Department of Environment, Land and Infrastructure Engineering (DIATI). He has worked at the crossroad of social studies of science and technology and design studies using semiotics as a descriptive methodology in order to account for the social role of technical artefacts and for the dynamics of design practices. Since he moved to the DIATI he has started researching techno-environmental controversies, focusing especially on mines and critical raw materials.
