Antonio Valentini is Associate Professor of Aesthetics (PHIL-04/A) at the Department of Philosophy of the Sapienza University of Rome. His research activity has developed according to two main lines of investigation, which call into question some key figures in the history of aesthetics: on the one hand, a research oriented towards the re-understanding of the notions of representation, myth and tragedy with particular reference to the classical culture and to the interpretations of the ancient proposed in the context of the modern-contemporary debate and, on the other hand, a research more specifically oriented towards the re-understanding of the relationship between aesthetics and literature in the modernity, with particular reference to the works of Franz Kafka and Charles Baudelaire.
In addition to essays published in national and international scientific journals (including: Studi di Estetica”, “Rivista di Estetica”, “Aesthetica Preprint”, “Aisthesis”, “Paradigmi”, “Materiali di Estetica”, “Comprendre. Revista catalana de filosofia”), he is the author of the following monographs: “La saggezza dionisiaca come sapere della superficie.
