Born in Rome April 8th, 1958

1976 – High school graduation – “Classical” lyceum.
1979 – “Cambridge Proficiency in English“ obtained in London
1982 – Honors degree in Medicine and Surgery at Rome “La Sapienza” University with the experimental thesis “Vertebral fusion techniques for cervical spine trauma: use of acrylic materials.”
1982 - Passed state exams for medical abilitation.
1982/87 - Resident at the Institute of Neurosurgery of Rome “La Sapienza” University where he collaborated with Prof. G.P. Cantore on theorical-practical courses given to medical students. During this period, he took part in many international meetings and spent regular updating periods abroad.
1987 – Residency in Neurosurgery with honors, discussing the thesis “Meningiomas of the tuberculum sellae“.
1988 – Awarded position of assistant professor at the 1st Division of Neurosurgery, Department of Neurological Sciences, Rome “La Sapienza” University .
1993 – Nominated chief ward doctor at the 1st Division of Neurosurgery, Department of Neurological Sciences, Rome “La Sapienza” University.
2001 - Nominated Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the 1st Division of Neurosurgery, Department of Neurological Sciences, Rome “La Sapienza” University.
2007-awarded position as a Full Professor of Neurosurgery University of Rome “Sapienza”

Clinical activity
He has performed more than one 4000 surgical procedures . The pathologies treated were mainly tumoral, both malignant and benign, more recently focusing on vascular surgery and reconstructive spine pathologies
His commitment to vascular surgery is testified by more than fifty surgical procedures/per year on aneurysms, MAV, arteriovenous fistulas and cavernous angiomas
He is a member of the “Giant aneurysms International Study Group”
He is considered a worldwide expert of MIS Spine surgery and has been invited in 2011-2012-2015 in the A.A.N.S. Annual Meeting as “International Spine Master”
He is the chairman of Sant’Andrea University Hospital with the only intraoperative 1.5 tesla MRI in Italy
