She is Full Professor (habilitation to Full Professor in 2013) of Korean Studies at Institute of Oriental Studies, University Sapienza of Rome and President of Korean Research Center. Nominated President of AKSE (Association of Korean Studies in Europe, 2011-2015), Chairperson of Korea Foundation Fellowship Committee for EU (2011-2016). She has been visiting scholar in many universities around the world, invited as Distinguish scholar at Harvard University, act as keynote speaker and lecturer around the world.
Most of the publications is focused on the exploration of Korean shamanic language, on Media in Korean culture (food, film, popular culture). Her interests comprehends linguistic anthropology, religions and popular culture. She has carried out long periods of field research in different regions of South Korea to collect materials and testimonies related to different traditions, and in particular to the different linguistic registers used by the shamans. For the theoretical training, after graduating from the Oriental University Institute of Naples (I.U.O.), she studied at the National University of Seoul, Anthropology Department, major in Linguistic Anthropology where in 1997 she completed the doctorate course. In 2002 she received her Ph.D. in Korean Studies at Leiden University (Netherlands). The publications of these years focus on the exploration of shamanic language, linguistic strategies, the switching of speech levels, the emotional transformation of the participants and the shamanic sessions using verbal and non-verbal language, including that of objects. She has held seminars on linguistic acts and the various registers of the shamans at many universities abroad.
She has established and developed, also thanks to the sharing-cost with the Korea Foundation, the Korean curriculum that now provides a complete path, from the BA -MA to PhD degree in Korean Studies. Internationally, he has contributed to the development of Korean studies in Europe through the Association of Korean Studies in Europe (AKSE), which is undoubtedly considered to be the most important international body in the academic field for Korean studies.

1997 - Ph.D. courses completed at Seoul National University, Department of Anthropology.

1991 - Degree in Korean Language and Literature, Oriental University Institute of Naples (I.U.O.). Summa cum laude and dignity of the press.
