Research: Non-human subjects in the Literature of the Anthropocene

Annamaria Elia (Grumo Appula, 1996) is a PhD candidate in Italian Studies ("green" scholarship) at the Sapienza University of Rome.
After obtaining her Piano Diploma at the Conservatory Niccolò Piccinni of Bari in 2018, she graduated with honours in Modern Literature (L-10) at the University of Bari Aldo Moro in 2019.
In September 2021 she obtained with honours a Double Master's Degree in Modern Philology (LM-14) and Études Italiennes (M2) at the University of Rome La Sapienza and at the University of Paris La Sorbonne, discussing a dissertation in Comparative Literature entitled “La letteratura al tempo dell’Antropocene: i casi di Marie Darrieussecq e Laura Pugno” (supervisors: Prof. Franca Sinopoli and Prof. Davide Luglio).
Her research interests concern ecocriticism, posthuman studies and environmental humanities and her current research project focuses on literary representations of non-human subjects in the Anthropocene.
