Anna Tedesco (Ph.D. University of Bologna, Italy, 1998) is Full Professor at the University of Palermo, Italy, where she teaches History of Opera. She also teaches and supervises doctoral theses for the Ph.D. program at the University La Sapienza (Rome). In Spring 2009, she was a Visiting Professor at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. She also taught in the Master program “Música hispana “at the University of Salamanca (2007-2018). She is the author of the volume Il Teatro Santa Cecilia e il Seicento Musicale Palermitano (Palermo, Flaccovio, 1992), and has published several articles and essays in Italian and international journals and volumes. Her research interests include the reception of French Grand Opera in Italy, the musical patronage of Spanish aristocray in modern Italy, and Giacinto Andrea Cicognini’s librettos, with a focus on the influence of Spanish theatre on his works. She co-edited with Fausta Antonucci La Comedia Nueva e le scene italiane nel Seicento. Trame, Drammaturgie, Contesti a confronto, Firenze Leo S. Olschki, 2016. Currently she is coordinating with Gianmario Borio a research project about the reception of Monteverdi’s theatre in Italy in the 20th Century, funded by Fondazione Cini in Venice.
