Doctor's degree in Physics at La Sapienza Rome University 1984, followed by three years of research at ING and Researcher from 1987. National Habilitation as Full Professor of Geophysics 2012. Former Director of Research (top level of qualification) at Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV, Rome) from 1999 (at ING from 1977). Present Position: Emeritus - Associated of Research at INGV. Former Head of Geosystemics Research Group at INGV. Contracted Professor of Geophysics at Chieti University (1999-2019), Earth Magnetism for PhD course in Physics at Rome 3 University (2015-2019), Geophysical Methods at Rome La Sapienza University (2017-2018), and Applied Geophysics to Energy Resources (2018-2019), Geomagnetism and Principles on Natural Disasters in PhD courses La Sapienza Univ. (2018-2023). ORCID: (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3941-656X He has published more than 270 scientific/technical articles (h-index = 40 ) and presented around 230 communications (70% international) several of which by invitation. He is Editor of three scientific Journals, and has been referee for around 200 international papers (Top Reviewer for Tectonophysics in 2008) and Organiser/Convener in many International Conferences and Congresses. He developed original 2D and 3D techniques for regional geomagnetic field and ionospheric modelling. He has deeply studied chaos and fractal properties in the geomagnetic field and the possibility for an imminent change of its polarity. In seismology, he has discovered the relationship between b-value of Gutenberg-Richter law and Shannon Entropy. He has recently introduced the concept of geosystemics as a way to approach the study and understanding of our planet in a more complete perspective. For instance, he is presently contributing to the understanding of the possible lithosphere-atmosphere-ionosphere coupling before large earthquakes. He has the qualification of Professor (National qualification in 2012): he has taught at the University of Chieti (Courses of: Solid Earth and Geophysics 1999-2019), Roma Tre, La Sapienza and Bologna, tutoring many (55 so far) students for graduate and PhD theses. He has also taught Geomagnetism and Applied Geophysics at PhD course of La Sapienza Univ. of Rome. He made two dedicated courses in 2012 at the Northeastern University of Shenyang (China) and then, in 2023, at the Institute of Earthquake Forecasting (CEA, China). He participated at 5 expeditions in Antarctica and was scientific coordinator of all Italian scientific activities in Antarctica during the 1995 campaign. He was member of the Phase A Mission Advisory Group of Swarm ESA satellite mission, member of Scientific Committee of INGV, and member of the Joint Committee INFN (National Institute of Nuclear Physics)-INGV and of the Interdivisional IAGA Working Group Education and Outreach. He has been vice-president of EMRP (Earth Magnetism and Rock Physics) Division of European Geoscience Union (2011-2014) and then President (2015-2019). He is member of the International Scientific Committee of the Chinese satellite CSES Mission and of the EO Satellite Committee by ASI. He has been responsible of many National and International projects funded by NATO, European Commission, ESA, Foreign Office, PNRA, Italian Ministry of Research and University. For instance, he has been leader of SAGA-4-EPR Italian-Chinese project on Earthquake Recognition Anomalies, and responsible of SAFE (SwArm For Earthquake study) – e-SAFE projects both funded by ESA (2015-2019) and supervisor of another ESA funded Project, TEMPO, together with LIMADOU-Science funded by ASI (2016-2019) and Science+ (2020-2021). Responsible of the LAIC-A (2020) and the WP5 of FURTHER (2020-2022) projects both funded by INGV. Referent of TASK1 of Dynamic Planet (2020-21) funded by Ministry of University and Research. He visited some of the most important Academy and Research Institutions and Laboratories in Earth Science around the world (for instance in Europe: BGS (UK), IPGP (France), GFZ (Germany), ESA-ESTEC (Netherland), the University of Barcelona and Complutense de Madrid (Spain), Munich (Germany), Newcastle Upon Tyne (UK), Lviv Centre of Institute for Space Research (Ukraine), and GFZ (Germany) etc.). Experience about several informatics platforms, regarding his knowledge of foreign languages, he has a fluent English and good understanding and sufficient speaking Spanish.
