Angela Albanese obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Languages, Cultures, Literature, Translation (L-11) and her Master’s degree in Linguistic, Literary and Translation Studies (LM-37) at Sapienza, University of Rome, achieving a final evaluation score of 110/110 with honors for both degrees. Her research predominantly focuses on Dutch and Flemish language and literature from an historical and literary perspective, emphasizing sociopolitical and religious events during the Dutch Golden Age. Her Master’s thesis «Nieuw-Nederland. L’America dei mulini a vento: l’eredità culturale olandese nella valle dell’Hudson» examines the formation of the overseas colonial entity of New Netherland and the founding of the city of New Amsterdam, as emerges from literary evidence related to the colonial transatlantic expansion project undertaken by the United Provinces of the Netherlands. She is currently enrolled in the international joint PhD programme in Germanic and Slavic Studies at co-supervision between Sapienza University of Rome and Charles University in Prague, with a research project centered on retrieving and analyzing seventeenth-century linguistic and literary records circulating between the city of Amsterdam and the Dutch colonial entity along the North American East Coast. Additionally, she has conducted a sociolinguistic investigation whose results have been part of a broader international enquiry into the diffusion and use of Dutch language in Italy for academic and professional purposes promoted by the Nederlandse Taalunie.
