Thesis title: Strategie di digitalizzazione per l’efficienza energetica diffusa: il ruolo degli edifici intelligenti nelle comunità energetiche urbane

Digitization of buildings is a key element for energy savings, especially in the context of energy communities. Through the integration of high-tech systems, innovative procedures, such as design in BIM, and management during the Digital Twin lifecycle, it is possible to optimize consumption in real time, improve facility efficiency, and encourage shared self-consumption. This approach enables more sustainable resource management, reducing emissions and energy costs. In energy communities, digitization promotes transparency, cooperation among users, and a balance between production and demand, contributing significantly to the energy transition. The text briefly but effectively analyzes all the main technologies that can be used in order to reduce the energy and, consequently, environmental impact of buildings. It is crucial to emphasize that technology alone does not guarantee concrete benefits; if used inappropriately, it can even generate effects contrary to those desired. For this reason, it is essential to rely on competent figures, capable of managing technological solutions critically, integrating innovation in a conscious and balanced way, without delegating every decision to it. Only in this way is it possible to manage the ecological transition phase without which we could put the national and European energy system, and consequently the future of new generations, in serious crisis.
