After my classical studies, in 1986 I graduated with honours in piano (Conservatory "G.B. Martini" of Bologna) and with honours in harpsichord in 1989 (Conservatory "L. Cherubini" of Florence). As a pianist I participated in national competitions. In 1990 I graduated with honours in Literature and Philosophy at the University of Florence, with a thesis on history of modern and contemporary music. From 1992 to 1998 I taught theory and music theory and music history at the Music Academy of Florence. Since 1990 I am active as an Opera and Lieder accompanist. I collaborate with Amici della musica of Florence, Teatro Comunale in Florence, Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti in Rome, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro alla Scala in Milan. From 1991 to 1997 I was a musical critic in the monthly magazine "Classic CD" and "Orpheus." I have attended courses at the Computer Music Center "P. Grossi" at "L. Cherubini" Conservatory, Teaching of Analysis at the Center for Teaching and Experimentation of Fiesole and the course in musicological disciplines (1990-1991) at University of Rome La Sapienza. I was active as a lecturer in secondary schools and I did lectures in various institutions of Florence and cultural associations. I worked as a music critic on RAI Radio 3. I was the first winner of the competition for the Class of 1991 Professor of Music Education - Secondary school in the province of Florence, the first winner of the 1991 Ordinary Competition for the teaching of Italian Literature at the conservatories of music. I achieved the professional abilitation to teach Music History at the National Academy of Dance (Rome) and at the National Academy of Dramatic Arts "Silvio D'Amico" (Rome). I was a member of the research group for the analysis GATM on ancient music (1994-1995). In 1995 I obtained my PhD in Storia dello Spettacolo at the University of Florence. In 1995-1996 I was professor at the University of Florence. I was editor of the music section of the biannual magazine "Drammaturgia". I worked in 1997-1999 at Lexicon of Music (LESMU) and with Regione Toscana cataloging the texts of musical treatises kept in libraries of Florence. I cooperated with the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, the Neue Mozart-Ausgabe, the Dizionario biografico degli italiani. Since September 1997 I held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Florence. From July 1998 to December 2004 I was a researcher at the University of Siena (Arezzo, Facoltà di Lettere II). From 1999/2000 until 2003/2004 I have been the holder of the teaching of history of modern music and contemporary music and drama at the same Faculty. I was part of the PhD in Comparative Studies: literature, theater, cinema, University of Siena. I obtained a PAR funding of the University of Siena for a research on Italian operatic form in the late 18th Century. In June 2003 I achieved the abilitation as associate professor, class L-ART/07. Delegated by the National Committee for the Celebration of the seventh centenary of the birth of F. Petrarch I organized an International Conference on Petrarch in music (Arezzo, 18-20 March 2004). On 1st January, 2005 I took service at the Facoltà di Lettere II (Siena University) as associate professor. I was a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Congress "L’istituzione ‘cappella musicale’ fra corte e chiesa nell’Italia del Rinascimento" (Camaiore, 21-23 October 2005). Since 2006 I am a member of the Comitato Direttivo of the "Saggiatore musicale" in charge of the reviews and since 2010 as Vice Director. I am the coordinator of the European project (Culture 2000) "Digital Archives for the Safeguard of European Musical Heritage "Petrarch on Music" and "Songs of the French Ars Nova"". From 2006-2007 I have taught also at the DAMS in University of Florence. Since 2008, I am the coordinator of the Unità locale (Siena) for the FIRB project "Libretti d'opera italiana del Settecento. Varianti dai manoscritti". Later I have obtained a grant PRIN 2009. I was invited to international conferences in Italy, France, Germany, Portugal, Vatican, Israel, Czech Republic, Switzerland. Since 2012 (December) I teach in Roma Sapienza. I am actually part of the PhD in Musica e spettacolo, curriculum Storia e analisi delle culture musicali (Roma, Sapienza). In 2014 I achieved the abilitation as full professor. Since March 2016 I am the Director of the course of study "Letteratura musica spettacolo".
