Research project:
Title - The voice of the real. The voice-image relationship in documentary cinema
The thesis proposes an investigation into the relationship between the visual plane and the off-screen voice in documentary cinema. Faced with a theoretical reconstruction of the role of the voice off in cinema and a genealogy of the transformations of the spoken commentary in relation to the documentary image over the course of history, an in-depth study will be dedicated to contemporary Italian documentary as an exemplary case of a voice-off capable of inserting itself in the intermedial interweaving of the story and at the same time to maintain its specific trait of oral declamation.
CV:
Alma Mileto is a PhD candidate in Music and Spectacle at the Department of History, Anthropology, Religions, Art and Spectacle of La Sapienza - University of Rome. She has written essays and articles in scientific and grade A journals and collective volumes. She co-edited the book "Inside/Outside. The work of the imagination and the forms of editing" (il lavoro culturale, Siena 2017). She has been a speaker at various Italian and international conferences. She coordinates the editorial staff of Fata Morgana Web.
