Research: The neighborhood as a form of eco-existence between the individual and the collective: a search for a definition

Alice Monacelli (Bologna, 1994), began her studies at the Faculty of Architecture of
Venice. After a one-year internship in Berlin at the Marc Benjamin Drewes studios
and Juergen Engel Architekten, enrolled at the Technische Universitaet of
Vienna, where she obtained the title of dipl. Eng./ Master's Degree with a
thesis on the urban redevelopment of Roma Tuscolana (supervisor Prof.M.
Bertold). She is currently a PhD student at Sapienza University of Rome in Architecture and Construction, carrying out her research studies in Urban Morphology. She
collaborates with professor M. Maretto (research tutor), professor at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma and member of the PhD Committee of the Department Architecture and Construction, La Sapienza University.
Among her publications: 'The paradox of the Mass-Topia', relating to the Architekturtheorie und Technikphilosophie course at the TU Vienna University (2018); 'vertical vs. Horizontal: Urban Densification Theory and Practice in an Evolving Metropolis', poster accepted for submission
at the ISUF 2020- International Seminar of Urban Forma (2020); 'Claude Parent: The Epistemological Shift from the Modernism to the Metabolism', journal article published in Digital Modernism Heritage Lexicon (pp 1359–1372), Springer Link.
Her research project concerns the study of socio-building neighborhood units,
integrating urban and architectural issues with climatic aspects.
