Alessandro Laloni graduated with honor on July 2022 in History and oriental studies at Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna. The final dissertation, titled «Poltrone rosse. Il cinema nella cornice della politica culturale del Partito Comunista Italiano (1948-66», aimed to rethink, with the help of audiovisual sources, the representation of a party which would have been unable to open itself to the emerging cultural industry. To this end, the work tried in particular to reconstruct the debate around the «seventh art» led by Communist cadres and critics on the most important party's newspapers and to analyze both the contents and the style of the Pci's cinematic production during Togliatti's era. Since November 2022, Alessandro Laloni is a PhD student in Storia e culture dell'Europa at Sapienza - University of Rome with a project titled «Schermi e politica. Culture e pratiche audiovisive dei comunisti europei negli anni Settanta e Ottanta» which belongs to the same field of research and is intended to fill a historiographical gap concerning the relationships between western Communist parties and the audiovisual sphere.
