| descrizione: | Il dottorato in Civiltà dell'Asia e dell'Africa si compone di tre curricula. Ogni curriculum ha le sue specificità, ma tutti lavorano armoniosamente per garantire un alto grado di cooperazione, a beneficio dello scambio culturale e intellettuale.
CURRICULUM ASIA ORIENTALE
Si propone di formare studiosi della storia delle civiltà estremo-orientali adottando il concetto di storia nella sua accezione più ampia, in cui sono compresi gli aspetti linguistici, letterari, storico-artistici e filosofico-religiosi. Forma inoltre esperti delle realtà contemporanee dell'Asia Orientale, adottando approcci interdisciplinari e transdisciplinari. Le/i dottorande/i potranno raggiungere un alto livello di autonomia nelle loro ricerche, utilizzando fonti in lingua originale e padroneggiando i mezzi di esposizione critica. Un obiettivo formativo importante è quello di mettere le/i candidate/i in condizione di sviluppare e presentare le loro ricerche in un contesto internazionale, favorendo la mobilità e la collaborazione con università e centri di ricerca stranieri.
CURRICULUM DI STUDI ARABI, IRANICI E ISLAMICI
Si propone di formare studiosi e professionisti esperti di discipline pertinenti alla storia, alle culture e alle lingue dei paesi correlati allo spazio di evoluzione storica dell’Islam, includendo le minoranze religiose, etniche e linguistiche presenti al loro interno. Il curriculum attualmente si orienta verso studi linguistici, storico-letterari e storici di ambito arabistico e iranistico, ma offre spazio per ricerche e specializzazioni correlate alla competenza in altre lingue islamiche (turco, urdu, berbero, bambara, etc.). L’approccio è multidisciplinare: linguistico, filologico e letterario da un lato, storico e socio- antropologico dall’altro. Il curriculum incoraggia e sostiene i rapporti internazionali dei dottorandi, attraverso accordi di collaborazione e cotutela.
CURRICULUM SUBCONTINENTE INDIANO E ASIA CENTRALE
Si propone di formare esperti nella storia e cultura della vasta e multiforme area che si incentra sul Subcontinente Indiano, allargata – per affinità di ordine linguistico o in senso lato culturale – all’Asia Centrale. Sono contemplati tre diversi profili, innestati su una comune base formativa: a) linguistico-culturale (hindi, urdu, bengali, sanscrito, lingue iraniche antiche con le rispettive letterature; discipline filosofico-religiose; filologico-linguistiche); b) storico (storia antica, moderna e contemporanea); c) storico-artistico e archeologico. È considerata caratterizzante per tutti e tre i profili l’acquisizione di una competenza linguistica moderna (hindi, urdu, bengali) o classica (sanscrito, lingue iraniche antiche). Per le ricerche nell’ambito dell’Asia Centrale occidentale è indispensabile la conoscenza del russo.

CURRICULUM ON EAST ASIA
It aims at training scholars of the history of Far Eastern civilizations, taking the term history in its widest meaning and thus comprising linguistic, literary, philosophical, religious, and artistic aspects. The curriculum also trains experts in the contemporary realities of East Asia, adopting interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches. Such scholars will reach a high level of autonomy in their research, working on sources in original languages and mastering critical analysis. An important educational goal is to enable the candidates to develop and present their research in an international context, fostering mobility and collaboration with foreign universities and research centers.
CURRICULUM IN ARABIC, IRANIAN AND ISLAMIC STUDIES
It aims at training scholars and professionals with expertise in disciplines related to the history, cultures and languages of the countries belonging to the space of the historical development of Islam – as a religion as well as an institutional and cultural system –, with the inclusion of its religious, ethnical and linguistic minorities. It is oriented in particular towards linguistic, literary and historical research projects in the domain of Arabic and Iranian studies; however, it welcomes research and specializations tied to competence in other Islamic languages (Turkish, Urdu, Berber; Bambara, etc.). The curriculum provides a multidisciplinary approach: linguistic, philological and literary on the one hand, historical and socio- anthropological on the other hand. It supports PhD students’ international contacts, through collaboration and co-tutoring agreements with foreign universities and research centres.
CURRICULUM ON THE INDIAN SUBCONTINENT AND CENTRAL ASIA
It aims at training experts in the history and culture of that vast and multiform area the core of which is in the Indian subcontinent and that stretches, from a linguistic and cultural point of view, to Central Asia. Three different profiles, based on a shared background, are offered: a) Language & culture (Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Sanskrit, ancient Iranian languages, in relation to philosophical, religious and philological disciplines); b) History (Ancient history, Modern and Contemporary history); c) Archaeology & Art History. For all the profiles the knowledge of a modern language (Hindi, Urdu, Bengali) or of a classical one (Sanskrit, old Iranian languages) is requested. For research projects on Central Asia the knowledge of the Russian language is necessary.
