Obiettivi formativi del dottorato
Educational goals and objectives
descrizione:
Il Dottorato di Interesse Nazionale in Intelligenza Artificiale di Sapienza costituisce la continuazione dell'esperienza rappresentata dalla federazione dei cinque Dottorati Nazionali in Intelligenza Artificiale (Artificial Intelligence, AI) iniziati nel novembre 2021 e descritti nel sito PhD-AI.it. Ciascuno di essi riguarda un tema centrale per la trasformazione digitale della società, ovvero la disciplina dell'Intelligenza artificiale, è guidato da una università capofila, aggrega un ampio consorzio di atenei e di enti di ricerca e collabora con tutti gli altri a diversi livelli, formando una vera e propria rete di dottorati, che hanno una base comune focalizzata sugli aspetti fondazionali dell’AI e 5 aree di specializzazione, descritti qui di seguito con l'indicazione dei corrispondenti capofila:
• Salute e scienze della vita (Health and life sciences) - capofila: Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma
• Agrifood e ambiente (Agrifood and environment) - capofila: Università di Napoli Federico II
• Pubblica Amministrazione (Government and public bodies) - capofila: Sapienza Università di Roma
• Industria (Industry) - capofila: Politecnico di Torino
• Società (Society) - capofila: Università di Pisa.
A livello generale il dottorato nazionale è stato istituito al fine di mobilitare la comunità scientifica italiana per confezionare una federazione di corsi di dottorato in AI al più alto livello scientifico, tale da dare impulso alla ricerca e all’innovazione industriale e sociale del paese. Sia a livello dei fondamenti dell'AI sia a livello di effetto trasformativo dell'AI, i temi del Dottorato Nazionale in Intelligenza Artificiale sono caratterizzati da una forte natura multidisciplinare, che promuove l'integrazione di principi, metodologie e tecnologie di diverse aree, incluse l'informatica, la matematica, la fisica, la robotica, la biologia e le scienze cognitive.
Al corso di Dottorato Nazionale in AI in Sapienza contribuiscono come partecipanti, oltre alla Sapienza, le seguenti università ed i seguenti enti:

- Università della Calabria
- Università di Genova
- Università di Roma Tre

Specifici obiettivi del PhD-AI sono:
• Costruire una comunità di giovani ricercatori in formazione e di ricercatori in AI distribuiti a livello territoriale e disciplinare;
• Favorire lo scambio di esperienze multi-disciplinari tra i nodi della rete attraverso i periodi di mobilità didattica e di ricerca dei dottorandi;
• Integrare e rafforzare la rete italiana di centri di ricerca in AI, anche in rapporto al programma europeo ICT-48-H2020 “Towards a vibrant European network of AI excellence centres” e alla strategia europea di sviluppo di AI degna di fiducia e incentrata sulla persona umana.

NATIONAL PHD IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
description:
The National PhD in Artificial Intelligence (Phd-AI.it) concerns a central theme for digital transformation of society. It aims to mobilize the national community for a PhD in AI at the highest scientific level, such as to boost research and the country's industrial and social innovation.
The PhD-AI.it is implemented, with the coordination of the CNR and the University of Pisa, with the establishment of 5 federated AI doctorates, organized by a university leader and a large consortium of universities and research institutions. Doctorates have a common base focused on the foundational aspects of AI e 5 areas of specialization:
• Government and public bodies, Sapienza University of Rome
• Health and life sciences, University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome
• Agrifood and environment, University of Naples Federico II
• Industry, Turin Polytechnic
• Society, University of Pisa.
Specific objectives of the PhD-AI are:
• Build a community of young researchers in training and AI researchers distributed at a territorial and disciplinary level;
• Encourage the exchange of multi-disciplinary experiences between the nodes of the network through the periods of didactic and research mobility of the PhD students;
• Integrate and strengthen the Italian network of AI research centers, also in relation to the European ICT-48-H2020 program "Towards a vibrant European network of AI excellence centers ”and the European human-centered and trustworthy AI development strategy.

La valutazione dei titoli include la valutazione del curriculum e del progetto di ricerca. La valutazione del CV include la valutazione della carriera accademica, delle eventuali pubblicazioni e lettere di presentazione a sostegno del candidato. Del progetto di ricerca verranno in particolare valutati la descrizione dello stato dell’arte, l’originalità ed il contenuto innovativo, la chiarezza e la completezza dell’esposizione degli obiettivi, delle metodologie e dei potenziali risultati, la pertinenza del progetto con gli obiettivi formativi del dottorato. Il punteggio minimo per la valutazione dei titoli è di 40/60 punti. La documentazione presentata dal candidato può essere indifferentemente in italiano o in inglese.
The evaluation of the qualifications includes the evaluation of the curriculum and the evaluation of the research project. The evaluation of the CV includes the evaluation of the academic career, of any publications and recommendation letters in support of the candidate. As for the research project, the following aspects will be particularly taken into account: the description of the state of the art, the originality and innovative content, the clarity and completeness of the presentation of the objectives, methodologies and potential results, the relevance of the project with the training objectives of the PhD program. The minimum score for the oral exam is 40/60 points. The material presented by the candidate can be neither in Italian or in English.

La prova orale si svolgerà in lingua inglese. Ad ogni candidato la Commissione chiederà di presentare il proprio progetto di ricerca e, a seguire, farà domande sullo stesso progetto di ricerca e sul CV, valutando la chiarezza e la completezza nella presentazione del tema di ricerca, la competenza metodologica e tecnica, l’attitudine alla ricerca e l’interesse all’approfondimento scientifico. Il punteggio minimo per il colloquio è di 28/40 punti.
The oral exam will be held in English. The Committee will ask each candidate to present his/her research project and, subsequently, will ask questions on the research project itself and on the CV, assessing the clarity and completeness in the presentation of the research topic, the methodological and technical competence, the aptitude for research and interest in scientific study. The minimum score for the oral exam is 28/40 points.
