Obiettivi formativi del dottorato
Educational goals and objectives

descrizione:Il Dottorato in Ingegneria Informatica (Ph.D. in Engineering in Computer Science) ha l’obiettivo di formare: i) esperti informatici capaci di operare sia nell’ambito accademico, sia nell’ambito di istituzioni pubbliche e private di ricerca per lo sviluppo di nuove tecnologie e metodologie informatiche; ii) specialisti di altissimo livello professionale con competenze ingegneristiche capaci di introdurre l’innovazione tecnologica e metodologica informatica nell’ambito dei principali settori applicativi, quali informatica, intelligenza artificiale, robotica, sicurezza, in contesti industriali, dei servizi, e nella pubblica amministrazione.
I membri del Collegio di Dottorato hanno una produzione scientifica molto rilevante, coordinano e partecipano a progetti di ricerca nazionali e internazionali e a progetti di per il trasferimento tecnologico verso aziende ed organizzazioni e hanno pertanto moltissime collaborazioni internazionali sia a livello accademico che a livello industriale. Questo scenario permette ai dottorandi di collaborare con ricercatori di primo livello mondiale.
Al termine del percorso di dottorato, la maggior parte dei dottori di ricerca sono impiegati in prestigiosi istituti di ricerca, comprese università e centri di ricerca pubblici e privati anche all'estero. Un numero significativo di dottori di ricerca ha preso parte ad attività imprenditoriali e di formazione di start-up a forte carattere innovativo.

PhD:ENGINEERING IN COMPUTER SCIENCE
description:The goal of the Ph.D. in Engineering in Computer Science is to train: i) experts in computer science and engineering able to develop new technologies and methodologies both in academia and in public and private research institutions; ii) specialists of very high professional level with engineering skills able to transfer technological and methodological advances into leading application sectors such as informatics, artificial intelligence, robotics, security, in industrial contexts, as well as in services and public administration.
The members of the Ph.D. board have a very relevant publication record, they continuously coordinate and participate in international and national research projects, as well as technology transfer projects in collaboration with industrial partners. This scenario gives many possibilities for PhD students to collaborate with top-level researchers worldwide. At the end of the term, PhDs are employed in prestigious academic and industrial institutes in Italy and abroad. In the recent past, a significant number of PhDs have been involved in the creation of start-ups with a strong focus on innovation.

 Verranno valutati il curriculum (comprensivo della carriera accademica e di eventuali altri titoli), le lettere di presentazione a sostegno del candidato, l'elenco delle pubblicazioni e la proposta di ricerca.
Nella valutazione della proposta di ricerca, verranno in particolare valutati la descrizione dello stato dell’arte, l’originalità e il contenuto innovativo, la chiarezza e la completezza dell’esposizione degli obiettivi, delle metodologie e dei potenziali risultati, la pertinenza del progetto con gli obiettivi formativi del dottorato.		 Curriculum Vitae (including the academic career and any other qualifications), letters of recommendation supporting the candidate, the presented list of publications, and the research proposal will be evaluated.
In particular, in the evaluation of the research proposal, the committee will evaluate the description of the state of the art, the originality and the innovative nature of the proposal, the clarity and completeness of the objectives, the methodologies and the potential results, and the relevance of the proposal with respect to the themes and the objectives of the Ph.D. program.

 L’accesso alla prova orale (colloquio) è subordinato a una valutazione positiva dei titoli e della proposta di ricerca da parte della commissione. Durante la prova orale, svolta in lingua inglese, vengono valutate, in particolare, le conoscenze, le abilità e l'attitudine dei candidati a svolgere attività di ricerca nelle aree scientifiche dell'Ingegneria Informatica. La prova orale include anche una discussione sulla proposta di ricerca preparata dal candidato e sulle motivazioni personali del candidato. La durata del colloquio è di massimo 30 minuti, inclusa un'eventuale presentazione della proposta di ricerca da parte del candidato, che non deve essere superiore a 15 minuti. Admission to the interview is subject to a positive evaluation of the qualifications and of the research proposal by the admissions committee. The interview is in English and is aimed at assessing the candidates' knowledge, skills, and aptitude to carry out research in the scientific areas of Computer Science and Engineering. The interview includes a discussion about the candidate's research proposal and his/her personal motivations. Its duration is at most 30 minutes and can include a candidate's proposal presentation, which has to be at most 15-minutes long.
