Il corso di Dottorato di Ricerca in Infrastrutture e Trasporti è finalizzato alla formazione di una figura professionale e scientifica integrata e multidisciplinare, i cui principali ambiti di attività comprendono: la simulazione, la progettazione e la gestione di una mobilità sostenibile per cose e persone, la costruzione e l’esercizio delle infrastrutture e dei sistemi di trasporto con particolare attenzione verso quelli caratterizzati dalle migliori prestazioni di ecocompatibilità, l’acquisizione e la gestione delle informazioni relative al territorio e alla sua antropizzazione.
Il corso è organizzato in due curriculum:
1. Curriculum INFRASTRUTTURE, SISTEMI DI TRASPORTO E GEOMATICA
Il curriculum di "Infrastrutture, sistemi di trasporto e geomatica" consentirà l'acquisizione, l'approfondimento, lo sviluppo e l'implementazione di metodologie e competenze tecniche, attuali e innovative, relative alle fasi di progettazione, costruzione e gestione d’infrastrutture e sistemi complessi di trasporto e all’acquisizione, gestione e diffusione delle informazioni territoriali necessarie per lo studio delle loro interazioni con l’ambiente. L'interesse specifico sarà rivolto alle grandi infrastrutture per la realizzazione e la gestione delle reti di viabilità e trasporto, nel rispetto e nella salvaguardia dei corretti equilibri antropici, ambientali e territoriali, nell'ottica di un oculato utilizzo delle risorse naturali e nell’idonea conoscenza delle condizioni economico-finanziarie in cui operare.
2. Curriculum PIANIFICAZIONE DEI TRASPORTI E DEL TERRITORIO
I trasporti sono andati assumendo negli ultimi decenni un ruolo ed una portata sempre crescenti nelle moderne società fino a diventare, con le loro importanti ripercussioni sull'assetto e sulla pianificazione del territorio, sullo sviluppo urbano, sulle attività industriali e commerciali, sull'ambiente e sull'uso dell'energia, una componente essenziale della crescita economica.
Il curriculum in "Pianificazione dei trasporti e del territorio" intende dare una risposta adeguata a tali esigenze, formando giovani ricercatori in grado:
- di configurare interventi internamente coerenti individuandone caratteristiche funzionali e prestazioni
- di valutare gli effetti e gli impatti che le modifiche apportate al sistema dei trasporti inducono sui diversi soggetti e sulla collettività, in modo da verificarne l'adeguatezza tecnica, socio-economica, ambientale e fornire gli elementi di supporto alle scelte e alle decisioni di attuazione
- di comprendere l’insieme delle interazioni tra reti di trasporto e territorio al fine di garantire la salvaguardia dell’ambiente, la tutela del paesaggio, il miglioramento dell’organizzazione insediativa
- di delineare processi di pianificazione dei trasporti organicamente legati alle attività di ascolto, partecipazione e deliberazione degli attori e dei soggetti interessati previste dalle normative europee e dalle metodologie più avanzate di pianificazione.

TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURES

The PhD Course in Infrastructures and Transport aims to train a professional, multidisciplinary, highly qualified and integrated scientific figure. Its main topics include: the modelling and planning of sustainable mobility for people and goods, the construction and operation of infrastructures and transportation systems focusing on those with improved environmental friendly performances, the analysis and management of geographic and spatial information relative to land and human settlement.
The PhD Course consists of two curricula:
1. Curriculum INFRASTRUCTURES, TRANSPORT SYSTEMS AND GEOMATICS
The curriculum "Infrastructures, transport systems and geomatics" will allow the acquirement, in-depth examination, development and implementation of actual and advanced technical methodologies for civil engineering works design and construction.
The main interest will be pointed on the realization and management of large linear infrastructures, integrated in transportation networks (roads, railways, harbours, airports), taking into consideration the preservation of a good human equilibrium and the safeguard of territory and environment, considering economic and financial conditions.
2. Curriculum TRANSPORT AND LAND-USE PLANNING
Transportation of people and goods has always been a key factor for the progress of culture and welfare in complex societies. In particular, during the last decades the transport sector assumed a crucial role for the growth of our modern and globalized economies.
The curriculum in “Transport and land-use planning” is meant to address these issues, by providing to young researchers a great variety of technical instruments in a multidisciplinary scientific environment; this way allowing them to give original answers to such relevant questions through a systemic approach. PhD students will then be able to:
- design transport systems, by setting their functional characteristics and performances
- evaluate the effects and the impacts of transport system modifications from different perspectives, to support final decisions through proper technical, social, economical and environmental analyses
- understand the totality of interactions between transportation networks and territory in order to guarantee the safeguarding of the environment, protection of the landscape, and improvement of settlement organization, and at the same time seizing the opportunities for economic and social development that can support the feasibility and sustainability of works
- delineate transport planning processes in which instruments for analysing, simulating, and evaluating networks and their effects on the territory are organically linked to the listening, participation and deliberation activities provided by European regulations and the most advanced planning methodologies.

La prova orale ha lo scopo di verificare la preparazione e le capacità del candidato e la sua attitudine alla ricerca nelle aree scientifiche coperte dal dottorato. Durante la prova orale, che si potrà svolgere a richiesta del candidato in italiano o in inglese, la Commissione approfondirà i seguenti aspetti: qualificazione del candidato, motivazioni a seguire il corso di dottorato, progetto di ricerca e interessi scientifici del candidato e sua attitudine a svolgere un'attività di ricerca.
La prova orale non è necessaria per i candidati stranieri che richiedono l'ammissione al
corso di dottorato in soprannumero senza borsa. In questo caso è necessario specificare nella domanda la richiesta di iscrizione in soprannumero.
The oral test is intended to verify the knowledge and capacity of the applicants and their aptitude for research in the scientific areas of the doctorate. During the oral exam, the Commission will examine the following aspects: qualification of the candidate, reasons to
follow the doctoral program, research and scientific interests of the candidate and
his ability to carry out research activities.
The oral exam is not required for foreign applicants for admission to the doctoral course without a scholarship, as supernumerary. The admission as supernumerary must be specified in the application.
